Aloha: roads, recreation, and home projects
For unincorporated Aloha, start with Washington County for county-road and home-project questions. Check the recreation district separately. The task and address determine the next step.

Your mailing city does not establish every service boundary. An address used for recreation registration answers a different question from a parcel lookup for a home project.
No address is requested or stored on this page. Enter it only on the official service you choose. A county road-service request becomes a public record; include only the details needed to explain the problem.
Report a road problem
For a pothole, damaged sign, or similar county-road problem, request road service from Washington County.
Have these details ready:
- Road name and nearest crossroad.
- Where the problem is: the side of the road and a useful distance or landmark.
- Problem type and a short description.
- Contact information requested by the county form.
For example, “a pothole on the east side, just north of the intersection” is more useful than “a bad road in Aloha.” This is an illustrative description, not a report of an actual defect.
The form is monitored during business hours. For a hazardous road condition outside those hours, it directs callers to 503-629-0111. Do not wait for an online request to be read when the county’s after-hours route is needed.
Unsure who maintains it?
Call County Road Maintenance at 503-846-7623 with the road and crossroad. A road near an Aloha address may be maintained by the county, a city, the state, or private owners.
The county also distinguishes local-access roads from roads accepted into its maintained system. Public access does not automatically mean county maintenance. The road-types explanation helps with that distinction.
Speeding and similar enforcement concerns have a Sheriff’s Office link on the form. A request for a new sidewalk or bike improvement has a separate proposal path there. Choose the route matching the work you want done.
Find recreation and check residency
Use THPRD’s “Am I In District?” lookup to check the address for registration purposes. Its fields separate the street number, quadrant such as SW, street name, and street type.
In-district residents receive earlier registration and lower program costs. Living outside the district does not prevent participation; the same page explains out-of-district options.
If the lookup cannot find the address or the result is unclear, check the property-tax statement or call THPRD at 503-645-6433. Do not treat a failed search as an out-of-district decision.
For swimming, open Aloha Swim Center’s official facility page and choose a dated activity or schedule. Building hours alone do not tell you when a lesson or public swim takes place.
District residency and who operates a particular facility are separate questions. For a maintenance issue, use that facility’s official contact rather than assuming the residency lookup identifies its operator.
Start a home project
Match the parcel first
Open MetroMap, search the physical address or taxlot ID, and select the correct parcel. Open its information and look for Jurisdiction.
Metro’s data definitions explain that this is the city responsible for the taxlot; it can differ from the postal city. A parcel with no assigned jurisdiction is considered unincorporated in that dataset.
A failed search, an unloaded panel, or missing parcel information is not proof of unincorporated status. Confirm that a real parcel result has loaded. Ask the county if you cannot establish the branch.
Choose the office for the question
| What the confirmed parcel information shows | Start here |
|---|---|
| Unincorporated Washington County: zoning, setbacks, land use | Development Review/Current Planning, 503-846-8761. |
| Unincorporated Washington County: construction-permit questions | Building Services, 503-846-3470. |
| A city jurisdiction | Start with that city’s planning/building office and confirm who handles the proposed work. Do not assume a county or city performs every service itself. |
Have the physical address or taxlot ID and a plain description of your project ready. For a shed, describe the size and where you want to put it. Ask Current Planning about setbacks and zoning; ask Building Services about construction permits.
The county’s accessory-structure FAQ says setbacks apply and a building permit may be required. A map classification is not permission to build.
One address, two different decisions
Suppose you want swim lessons and are considering a backyard shed. Use the recreation lookup for the registration category. Separately establish parcel jurisdiction for the shed, then ask the appropriate planning and building offices.
The same address is useful in both checks, but one result cannot replace the other. For the broader distinction, read Aloha’s address-first government guide. For statewide land-use context, continue to Oregon’s urban growth boundaries.
