A Washington County address does not settle every local income tax
Metro and TriMet questions turn on program boundaries, work location, tax year, and income.
The ordinary rule is stable, but a current record, boundary, rate, deadline, or personal fact can change the result. Last reviewed against the listed sources July 18, 2026.
A Washington County mailing address does not answer every Portland-area income or transit-tax question. Metro’s housing tax depends on the Metro boundary, taxable income, and the tax year.
The TriMet self-employment tax follows business work done in the district. When work happens both inside and outside, the income may need to be split. Check home, work, and business locations against the current maps. Do that before deciding which return applies.
